Drury University is a private liberal arts college in Springfield, which is the county seat of Greene County and the 3rd largest city in the state of Missouri, USA, having a population estimated at a number of more than 157 000 inhabitants, during the 2009 census. Drury was founded in 1873, by Congregationalist church missionaries, as Springfield College. The establishement of the university was possible due to Rev. Nathan Morrison, Samuel Drury, and James and Charles Harwood, who provided the school's initial endowment and organization, the institution being renamed in honor of Drury's recently deceased son.
